The Observatory publishes its panel, controlling methodology, versioned data and verification manifests separately from the interface. A reader should be able to check what a map state rests on without trusting the map itself.

Revision 2.7 is the only methodology that governs the live map. Draft Revision 3.x material is non-controlling and is isolated from live states. The rules are summarised on the Method page.

The Observatory uses a fixed, versioned panel of 51 coffee origins. It is not an exhaustive enumeration of every territory reporting coffee production. Any change to panel membership is a versioned change and is published with a crosswalk.

Research-cycle completion does not mean every cell is publicly rated. Publication eligibility is tracked separately from analytic closure, and all 47 current determinations are held from public rating by a named publication, archive, evidence-chain, source-stability or independent-verification gate.

The pre-analysis plan is intended to be registered before the 102-cell dataset is frozen and before the final comparative statistics are computed. Interim cell-level adjudications were already known during instrument development, so it is not presented as a blind preregistration.

Every frozen Observatory release carries a file manifest and SHA-256 checksums. The manifest hash is published separately, so a recipient can verify both the files and the manifest used to verify them.
Released files are never silently replaced. A corrected release receives a new version and an explicit change record.

Coffee Monitor preserves first-party evidence objects and their metadata for auditability. Third-party source files are redistributed only where rights permit.
Where redistribution is not appropriate, the public release provides the institution, the original address, the document date, the capture date, the artifact form and the cryptographic hash needed to identify the object.
Corrections and challenges
A new source or challenge triggers re-adjudication under the controlling rule book. Public state changes are logged with the old state, the new state, the effective date, the rule version and the decisive evidence. See Corrections.
